Historical development and basic paradigms of economic anthropology. Presentation of various economic modes of thought and organization, subsistence, exchange, distribution and consumption, social life of goods, political-economic strategies, ideologies, etc. Familiarization with modern and prevailing theoretical models, methods, and limitation.
Lectures are based on ethnographic cases and their theoretical evaluation. We compare practices of Slovenian political and economic modernity and the past with examples from around the world.
The course also takes into account the insights of ecological, political, symbolic and psychological anthropology and makes other interdisciplinary connections.
